So, you wanna know more about cannabis? It’s more prominent in pop culture than ever, but many people are still left scratching their heads about the subject.
Things have come a long way since Reefer Madness, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still misconceptions surrounding cannabis.
To help clear the air, we’ve compiled a list of five weed-related documentaries that everyone should watch.
The Culture High
Ever wonder why cannabis was illegal in the first place? This movie has some of the answers.
The Culture High takes viewers on a trip through history and the legislation of cannabis in North America. It showcases both sides of the debate, those who are for legal pot and those who are against it.
It’s available now on Amazon Prime Video.
Weed the People
In 2018, Ricki Lake released a documentary called Weed the People that explores the personal stories of those affected by medical cannabis and the controversy that comes with it.
Lake was inspired to make the documentary by a cancer-stricken fan she met during her time on ‘Dancing with the Stars’, and who she would later allow to move into her home, but not before contacting her filmmaker partner Abby Epstein.
“It was profound just wanting to help a stranger,” she said. “I’m just living my life doing this and I call Abby out of the blue and I’m like, ‘You’re not gonna believe the next chapter of what’s happening with my life.’”
Super High Me
In Super High Me comedian Doug Benson conducts a Super Size Me-inspired experiment where he goes 30 days without cannabis before consuming it for 30 days straight.
Throughout the film, he goes through a variety of tests, some with surprising results.
Zach Galifianakis, Sarah Silverman, Patton Oswalt, Jimmy Dore, and plenty of other funny celebrities appear in the very entertaining documentary
The Future of Weed: High Country

Clearing the Smoke: The Science of Cannabis
